MIXED MARTIAL ARTS (MMA)

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)

Mixed martial arts are a full-contact combat sport based on striking, grappling and ground fighting, incorporating techniques from various combat sports from around the world.

this is the class where a student can put all their skills to work. we incorporate pieces of all disciplines into this high paced class. this is the only class on the schedule where spend time on the technical aspects of ground and pound. the ability to throw and defend strikes on the ground will Truley help you gauge which techniques are legit and which techniques are unnecessary in a real-life self-defence scenario.
no extra equipment is required but we recommend 4oz mma gloves, mouthgaurd and cup.

BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU (NOGI)

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a self-defence martial art and combat sport based on grappling, ground control, and submission holds. BJJ approaches self-defence by emphasizing taking an opponent to the ground, gaining a dominant position, and using a number of techniques to force them into submission via joint locks and chokeholds. in NOGI Jiu-jitsu you don't wear a traditional uniform, instead you wear shorts, tee shirts, rash guards and/or compression wear.

  • BJJ and submission grappling is an amazing skill for self-defence and is one of the most demanding workouts on the schedule. every detail of our curriculum can be modified based on a student's skill level,  physical abilities and age.

  • wearing a cup is recommended for live grappling "rolling". a mouth guard is recommended for class and mandatory for rolling.

MUAY THAI

Muay Thai

Sometimes referred to as Thai boxing, Muay Thai is a combat sport that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. This discipline is known as the "art of eight limbs", as it is characterised by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees and shins. Muay Thai became widespread internationally in the late 20th to 21st century, when westernised practitioners from Thailand began competing in kickboxing and mixed martial arts (MMA).

  • the Combat Clinic puts a huge emphasis fundamentals, footwork, technique and conditioning as the foundation for its Muay Thai program. One of coach Scott's favorite sayings is "trying to do execute techniques strictly for show would be like building the Eiffel tower on a wet lawn".

  • boxing gloves and shin pads required, a cup, mouthguard and hand wraps are recommended. wearing a cup, mouthguard, 160z gloves, shin pads are mandatory if you wish to spar.

  • We are happy to privide gear for students who are on a free trial.

KIDS AND YOUTH MARTIAL ARTS

Our kids and youth martial arts program offers a mix of several disciplines with the ultimate goal of building complete martial artists, and of course, to have as much fun training as we do. We specialize and train youth in boxing, kickboxing, wrestling and brazilian jiu jitsu.

We highly encourage our youth students to wrestle and grapple live in scrimmage but will never ask our students to spar in boxing or kickboxing unless they wish to pursue a competitive career.

  • boxing gloves and shin guards are required. \

  • We are happy to privide gear for students who are on a free trial.
